“I grew up in Au im Bregenzerwald, a small village amongst the Austrian Alps. I always liked BMX as a kid, then I got obsessed with the coolness of snowboarding. All of a sudden my playground opened up and I looked forward to make progress in the challenges I put myself up to. My first videopart “Destroyer” labeled me Transworld Rookie of the year 2000. This led to a screaming consciousness that woke me up to the beginning of my snowboarding career.”

A Q&A With Gigi Rüf

What about the products are you most psyched on and how do they help you?

The BackPro XT Lite has become part of my gear and is always with me. The whole Backpro XT line is not only necessary protection, but it gives me comfort when out in the snow and mountains. On our backcountry missions I use The Slytech Nobound Packpro which is a protective backpack that is compatible with the incredible ABS airbag system!

How does the gear affect your performance?

The Backpro XT Lite is so comfortable. From riding the chairlift up, riding down crowded slopes or going freeriding. It’s what I call buddysystem.

What's the perfect day of shredding to you?

Waking up at home looking out the window. Make plans during breakfast. Wax my board. Pack up my backpack. Fill up water and hit the road with my family or friends to explore the mountain.

Gnarliest or scariest experience riding?

Anytime you scorpion or tomahawk down anything is awful.
